This morning we had an excellent presentation from Kevin Connors about Rotary Corporate Membership and how they can be a positive force to Rotary Clubs. Members can watch the recording of the entire meeting or skip ahead to about the 33:00 mark to see Kevin's presentation here. (Recordings are only available for about 3 months.)
At our Friday morning breakfast meeting, we take the time to introduce and recognize Rotary Clubs from around the world.
This week we recognize the Rotary Club of Regina. Chartered in 1917, this club is one of five in the city of Regina and meets at noon on Mondays. The club maintains the tradition of having a piano player play through lunch, keeping with the club's musical history. Beginning in the 1930s the Rotary Club of Regina recognizes the Rotary anniversaries of its members by toasting its members. Collectively the clubs of Regina host an annual pancake breakfast, raising $1.2 million last year.

Last Friday was the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
If you took part in any activities on September 30th and feel comfortable sharing, please send your information to updates@rotaryhalifaxharbour.ca.
Our club is recommitting to youth exchange for the 2023-2024 school year. To be able to allow a local student to study abroad and to welcome an international student to NS, we need host families. We like to provide the student with 2-4 host families over the school year. We CAN NOT commit to a student until we know we have host families in the queue.
The Metro Halifax Rotary Clubs are hosting a Pints for Polio night at the Celtic Corner in Dartmouth on October 26. For every Moosehead sold, $1 will be donated to the Polio Fund.
More details to come. Please reach out to Ashley Butt for more details.
This a reminder that there are lots of things happening as we plan for Beatles Fest on November 18 at the Central Libary. We will need help with some light food prep, and other volunteers are needed. Unfortunately, due to the size of the event, there will be no free admission to volunteers... sorry.
