In this week’s Halifax Harbour Express, we got a great update from Shae Reimer about their time at the Adventures in Citizenship program. We also made a $5,000 donation to The Aninga Project, and there’s a reminder to pre-register for Beyond Borders 2025. We welcomed our new Youth Exchange student, Jules from Italy, and gave an update on our partnership with Joseph Howe Elementary.
Shae’s Adventures in Citizenship: A Journey of Growth and Connection
This week, we had the pleasure of hearing from Shae Reimer, who represented Rotary Halifax Harbour at the Adventures in Citizenship program in Ottawa last May. From exploring Parliament Hill and visiting historical landmarks to experiencing dorm life and becoming pen-pals with her roommate Rachel, Shae’s journey was full of impactful experiences.

Rotary Halifax Harbour Supports The Aninga Project with an Additional $5,000 Donation!
On September 20, our club was thrilled to present The Aninga Project with an additional $5,000 in support of their incredible work. The Aninga Project is dedicated to funding the education and empowerment of young women in East Africa, with a focus on Uganda, Kenya, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Celebrating Basic Education and Literacy Month with Rotary Halifax Harbour! 
 
This September, we are thrilled to continue our impactful partnership with Joseph Howe Elementary School, located in the North End of Halifax. For the second year in a row, we have joined forces with Irving Shipbuilding Inc. to ensure that all 400 students at Joseph Howe Elementary—from Primary to Grade 5—have the essential school supplies they need to succeed for the entire school year. This collaboration is more than just a financial donation; it is a testament to the power of community-driven support and our shared commitment to education.
