Young At Heart
We will meet with a group called Young At Heart (Rotarians who are young at heart or new to the club ). We are looking to do projects to help newcomers to our community. Please contact David Gosine if you want to get involved or have any ideas for projects.
Programs and International Committees Wants You
The Programs Committee, led by Alex Russell, and the International Committee, led by Godfred Chongatera, are looking for recruits. If you like FUN and giving back to the community, both committees would love you to join. Please reach out to Alex or Godfred for more information.
Engaging the Community
A lot of what we do and what drives us as Rotarians is our work in the community. To strengthen this work, we must continue engaging with each other and the community. Please don't hesitate to reach out to Dave Kowlessar, our Local Committee Lead, if you have any suggestions, feedback, or questions.
ShelterBox Update
ShelterBox has confirmed we have raised over $1,400 from our last GivingTuesday campaign. We are sorry that some folks had some technical issues with the giving page online. Sally is working with ShelterBox on this issue. Please keep an eye out for a future fundraiser coming soon.
PALS Looking for Volunteers
PALS is up and running at Joesph Howe School. We already see remarkable results from the students and teachers. However, the school needs more one-off volunteers to help with small activities and field trips. Adrienne will share details on upcoming needs in January, and members are encouraged to consider volunteering. A criminal background check and vulnerable persons check will need to be conducted.
Who Will Be Our Next District Governor?
Tripta is on the committee to nominate the 2025-2026 district governor. If you have someone in mind who you think would be a great district governor, please reach out to Tripta. The deadline for nominations is January 27, 2023.
New Year - New Strategic Plan
Just a heads up that we will review our strategic plan as we enter our calendar new year. This important step is what helps our club create long-term goals to strive towards. This will be led by our very own Chris Hornberger. Please standby for more information.
Save The Date - Paul Harris Fellow Night
Our next Paul Harris Fellow night will be at the Westin Nova Scotian on April 20th. Please check your email for a for call nominations. We are looking for five people in our community who exemplify the values of Rotary. All nominations must be made by January 15th.
Hosts Families Needed for Youth Exchange
Our club is recommitting to youth exchange for the 2023-2024 school year. To be able to allow a local student to study abroad and to welcome an international student to NS, we need host families. We like to provide the student with 2-4 host families over the school year. We CAN NOT commit to a student until we know we have host families in the queue.
