Graduating from the University of the West Indies with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Industrial Management, he qualified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) in 2003, and has completed several courses in Gender and Development (UWI), Trade, Growth and Poverty (World Bank Institute). From his Canadian base he glods a Post Graduate certificate in Human Resources Management (Canada), is a licensed insurance agent with an LLQP in 2019, and is in the process of completing certification as an International Trade Professional (CITP).
With a skill-set that includes market research, institutional development, economic and financial analysis, trade facilitation, SME development, training and change management, Dav-Ernan has presented around the world at various conferences, workshops and been part of international working groups and committees on subject areas such as trade agreements, capacity building for SME development, globalisation and finance, climate change and disaster risk reduction, business continuity, as well as institutional strengthening and the socio-financial market. He has lectured in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management for CIPS and BTEC from the UK.
In practice, Dav-Ernan has worked on and chaired several Steering Committees that led to the establishment of the Central Finance Facility in Trinidad and Tobago and the Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Service Industries. Dav-Ernan has served in various capacities on the Board of the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce (CAIC) where he is currently the Secretary and Head of Secretariat. Under the CAIC he was the Chair of the CARIFORUM side of the EU-CARIFORUM EPA Joint Consultative Committee 2016-2018, Chair of the ACP Non State Actors platform and Chair of the Regional Private Sector Network on DRR by UNISDR.
He was also a Trustee of the Caribbean and Central American Action (CCAA) and is a member of the Rotary Club of Halifax Harbour, Canada, a past president of the Rotary Club of Maracas/St. Joseph, Trinidad, and past chair of the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) for District 7820, Canada. He currently serves as the Secretary / Treasurer of the Caribbean Women in International Trade (CWIT) and is on the technical committee for SAGE (a collaboration between Canada and the Caribbean on Skills to Access the Green Economy)
