Today was a great day in Rotary.  If we all follow what the speaker said, we just might live a little longer.

There were lots of Happy Bucks today but surprisingly few April Fools.

Our speaker today was Dr. Clayton Roach.   Dr. Clayton Roach has been in professional chiropractic practice for over five years. During these years, Dr. Roach has made an effort to educate his community by providing lectures and engaging workshops for businesses, groups and clubs.

Dr. Roach maintains a busy practice in Bedford, Nova Scotia and had the honor of winning The Masters Circle Chiropractor of the Year award for Canada in 2010.

Dr Roach spoke to our club on health and wellness.   One major point he made was that our sleep is very important.  He suggested we need our sleep and should have a dark room, not watch television, especially action packed programs, before bed.  He also suggested that classical music was very good for relaxation.  Dr. Roach told us that if we wake up we should get out of bed until we feel sleepy again (this I found interesting as I usually go the toss and turn route).

He reminded us that exercise reduced our risk of heart disease significantly. He told us that swimming did help osteoporosis because it did not stress the bones, and it is good cardio.

Finally he generously offered our members an assessment in his office for $20 which he would donate back to the club on their attendance at his ofice.  He ended up donating $100.

The 50/50 didn't go, it will soon.
