Helping create a polio-free world

When Rotary helped launch the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in 1988, polio was paralysing hundreds of thousands of children every year in 125 countries.

Since then, wild polio cases have fallen by 99.9%. More than 3 billion children have been immunized, and an estimated 20 million cases of paralysis have been prevented.

Wild polio remains endemic in only two countries—Afghanistan and Pakistan. We are closer than ever, but the work must continue until every child is protected and polio is gone for good.

Money raised through Pints for Polio supports vaccinations, disease surveillance, laboratories and frontline workers reaching children in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.
