At our Friday morning meeting we saw an update from our Action Teams. This update includes lots of information and members are encouraged to read more.

We Create Opportunities
  • Asad has been working to move our accounting software and date from a physical computer to a cloud-based accounting system. This new cloud-based system will allow more than one person access to the date, creating more transparency. Being cloud-based will also protect the data from physical loss.
  • A reminder, the club assembly will be happening on September 28th in the evening at the Westin and on Zoom. Members are asked to register. For full detail, see the event page here.
  • There is NO regular Friday morning meeting on September 30th.
  • If members are interested in joining a committee, please reach out to the committee chairs. You can see the committee chairs here. You can learn more about Action Teams here.
We Connect People
  • We recently inducted two new members and welcomed back a returning member.
  • There are a few new members in the pipeline as well.
  • Our speaker roster is filling up. Thank you to members for suggestions. Please continue to send speaker suggestions to speakers@rotaryhalifaxharbour.ca.
  • There are no youth exchange happening this Rotary Year at our club, but students have arrived in the district for this year. We hope to host an inbound and outbound next Rotary Year. The recruitment process has begun.
  • We are still using ClubRunner to have members sign up for duty roster activities. You may not hear much because the requests mostly get sent to teams that rotate monthly. However, you may still get requests to fill holes and we encourage anyone interested to take on a duty roster opportunity. We are working through some challenges and we appreciate your patience.
We Transform Communities
  • We are processing requests for money and for hands on support.
  • We have been approached by Rotary International Passport Club, which is a virtual based club in all of Atlantic Canada. They have been working with a family from Afghanistan to relocate to Halifax. We have been asked if we would be interested to partner with this family to introduce and settle them in our community. This is not a financial ask. More information to come.
We Fund Sustainable Projects
  • Beatles Fest has a confirmed venue and some other items are now coming together. We have three confirmed sponsors. There is a Beatles Fest meeting on Monday at 6:45PM. If you are interested to learn more please reach out to Alex Handyside.
  • Pints for Polio fundraiser has been moved to October 25. More information will be coming out shortly.
