We were very happy to welcome and hear from The Honourable Mayann Francis, the 31st Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. Mayann spoke about her life, her time as the Lieutenant Governor, and her writings. Mayanna was the first Black Nova Scotian and the second woman to serve as Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. The Rotary Clubs of Halifax Northwest, Yarmouth, and New Minus Sunrise are hosting a vacation draw called the Rotary Adventure Club. There are some amazing cash and vacation prizes! We are happy to share we have a group of local Rotarians heading to Oregon as part of the Rotary Friendship Exchange. The Rotarians will be away from May 19th to June 3. The biggest expense will be travel, but when folks get there, they will be housed by local Rotary members. There are some openings. Please reach out to Bob Power for more information. 

After a pandemic hiatus, the Rotary Bridge Club is back up and running. While the group is mostly Rotarians, there are some non-Rotarians. The Bridge Club has been running for over 40 years now! If you are interested or want to learn more, please contact Bob Power.

We have some FUN youth-oriented activities that we need some help with. We have an active youth program, including youth exchange, Interact clubs, and youth trips. If you are interesting in helping out or learning more, please reach out to Alex Russell.

We are looking for some volunteers to handle the tech (laptop, projector, speaker) setup every week. This team would coordinate with each other and ensure the tech is set up and ready for each meeting. If you are interested, please reach out to Jillian.

We continue to look for ways to improve the breakfast ordering process. We have removed some areas of weakness in the process and are happy to see things working well in the background. As part of this streamlining, we will be phasing out payments, of any form, during meetings for members. If you order breakfast, it will be placed on your ClubRunner account, as well as the $5 fee for coffee and tea. We will still accept cash for guests and visitors or allow other members to cover the costs. This is still a work in progress, and we look forward to any feedback. 

Tripta is on the committee to nominate the 2025-2026 district governor. If you have someone in mind who you think would be a great district governor, please reach out to Tripta. The deadline for nominations is January 27, 2023.

Just a heads up that we will review our strategic plan as we enter our calendar new year. This important step is what helps our club create long-term goals to strive towards. This will be led by our very own Chris Hornberger. Please standby for more information.
