"Jollof, or jollof rice, is a rice dish from West Africa. The dish is typically made with long-grain rice, tomatoes, chillies, onions, chicken stock, spices, and sometimes other vegetables and/or meat in a single pot, although its ingredients and preparation methods vary across different regions.
Regional variations are a source of competition between the countries of West Africa, and in particular Nigeria and Ghana*, over whose version is the best." (Wikipedia)
It's time we have a taste test of our own, so for this month's fellowship event, we present The Rotary Club of Halifax Harbour Jollof Off!!!
On the evening of August 23rd, we will have a gathering at Mike and Jillian's home, and Godfred (Ghana) and Yemi (Nigeria) will be presenting their best jollofs! Mike is going to be grilling up some meat to go with it, and I am asking those who come to bring an appetizer, side dish, or dessert. It will be $5 per person to cover everyone's cost of the meat. Friends, families, and spouses are all welcome!
Please fill in the linked spreadsheet with who is coming and what you are bringing so that we will know how many of you are descending upon the Gibson household that night and so we know how much meat to get and jollof to make!
Don't forget to fill out the form! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PF6MH-5g4ve_MLenh6IQzNjHpvFwaCe1EH8kC8XnfdU/edit?usp=sharing
