AGM Information

The Rotary Club of Halifax Harbour's Annual General Meeting will happen on Friday, November 24, 2023, at 7:30 AM. The meeting will happen in person at the Westin Nova Scotian and online via Zoom. This meeting is open to all members and the general public.

What is the AGM? Why should you consider serving on the Board? Check out this short video about our AGM.

The AGM is a legal event held between November 15th and December 15th. The AGM serves as a recap of the previous Rotary year (2022/23) and is when we hold an election for 2024/25 Board positions. Only active members may vote during the election or on other club business.

One-third of active members must attend the AGM for a quorum.

Our by-laws can be referenced here

Green Commitment

As part of our commitment to the environment, we are encouraging all members to consider carpooling or using public transit to the AGM.

Board Elections

The election of officers and directors for the 2024/25 Rotary year will happen during the AGM. The Nominating Committee will share a list of nominations on or before November 10, 2023. Members may nominate themselves or others by speaking to the Nomination Committee (Godfred, Jillian, Ashely) OR by nominating themselves or others during the AGM.

The following positions are open for nomination:
  • Vice-president
  • Treasurer (one year)
  • Secretary (one year)
  • Director-at-larger (multiple) (two years)

Our current Vice-president, Dave Kpwlessar, will assume the position of President automatically unless there is an objection.

Active members may vote by secret ballot in person or online. Proxies are not permitted.

If a member runs unopposed, they will win by acclamation.

Please contact Godfred, Jillian, or Ashely if you have any nomination/election questions.
