With great sadness, we share the passing of Mary Lawley, wife of Honorary Member Gordon Lawley. Gordon was an active Member of the Rotary Club of Halifax since 1958 until becoming an Honorary member just before the merger. Mary was a member of the Women of Rotary. A funeral service will be held at Bethany United Church on October 11, 2023 at 7 PM and live-streamed at https://youtube.com/live/j_Wu9J59ZUk. The burial will be in the East Lake Ainslie Cemetery the following day at 2pm.

Our Club has been a longtime supporter of and contributor to the ShelterBox campaign.  ShelterBox is a global non-government organization that works with disaster-hit families worldwide, offering emergency shelter and other essential items to support them in rebuilding their lives.

In 2022-23, the Rotary Club of Halifax Harbour and its members raised $5,165 in support of ShelterBox - enough to receive Silver Hero status! Click here to learn more and give!

On October 4, our Club members were treated to terrible tales of Halifax's haunted past: stories of ghosts from graveyards, the Halifax Explosion, historic homes - tormented souls and tales of disease, despondence, and death. And all for a great cause! Funds raised from our ghost walk support our Club's projects, Ovarian Cancer Canada and End Polio Now. We were even joined by a mystery ghost at the Old Burial Ground - they helped serve as guide and host! A ghost from Rotary's past, perhaps? Calling all wine survivors! Do you have a massive cheese supply but no wine to enjoy it with? Do you like fun? Do you want to help raise some money for our Rotary Club? Would you like less whining and more wine in your life? Do you enjoy tiki touches?

 

We will be hosting a wine/beer survivor through October and November. Funds raised will help offset internal club expenses.
