We are very pleased to welcome and introduce Joel Goodman to our club!

Joel Goodman is honoured to become one of Halifax Harbour's newest Rotarians. Born and raised in Halifax, he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Saint Francis Xavier University in 2003, studying sociology and political science.

After completing a public relations Post-Graduate Certificate from Niagara College in 2004, he embarked on a 17-year sports publishing career in Toronto, Ontario. Joel has produced the official publications for many professional franchises, including the Toronto Blue Jays, Maple Leafs, Raptors, TFC, Argos, Rock, Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Bills. He has also written and produced content for major North American sporting events, including the NHL, NBA, MLS and MLB Playoffs. His creative niche has been recognized in stadiums throughout North America, on newsstands across Canada and developed into digital formats.

Previously, Joel has represented Core Media Inc. in leadership roles, including managing editor, director of publishing, executive editor and vice president of publishing. In addition to becoming a minority owner of Core Media, in 2013, he established his own private company, 33 Communications Inc.

In September of 2021, Joel and his wonderful wife Sarah moved to Nova Scotia with their two young children. As a unit, they hope to contribute towards their new community's engagement, development and well-being.

As someone who struggled and received support for a learning disability growing up, Joel is a lifelong learner. He is inspired by the success of others, and sees Nova Scotia as a tremendous resource in post-secondary education. He now looks to forge a new path for himself here, contributing to the support and education of others who struggle to adapt physically and mentally to society's structural norms. His vision unites inclusive and collaborative practices with innovative thinking. And benefits diversity, equity and accessibility within our community.

Joel joins Halifax Harbour as a fourth-generation Nova Scotia Rotarian, and is grateful for the honour and opportunity to become a person of action.
