This week Chris Hornberger gave an update on our Club's strategic planning. Many members would have seen the survey sent earlier this month. While 64 folks opened the survey and 39 started the survey, only 29 completed the survey. We would like to thank Rafael for combing through the results and producing a report. Some of the trends from the survey are:
- members value participation in hands-on projects the most
- this came up several times in the survey
- there is a desire for more social events and networking activities
- some members think the club lacks a clear direction and organizational cohesion
- service activities rank the highest of Rotary activities
- leadership and professional development ranked the lowest of Rotary activities
- some members felt there are limited leadership and professional development activities relevant to their specific careers
- there is an emphasis on leadership and member engagement in the club
The Strategic Planning Committee continues to meet and work out the details of a new plan. Joel and Godfred got together with Louisa to examine the external environment. Louisa has a lot of research in their area. Dav has been looking at our internal situation, including our finances, to understand our situation better. The Committee is adopting the four pillars of RI, impact, reach, engagement, and agility. One of the four pillars' most critical aspects is measuring impact. The Committee hopes to develop a better plan to measure our impact to tell our story. A first draft of the plan is in the works and will be shared with the members shortly. A more wholesome conversation will happen on May 17th at our club assembly.
