Rotary Halifax Harbour is proud to announce that we have been awarded the 2024–2025 Bronze EnviroClub Award by Rotary District 7815. This recognition highlights our club’s commitment to Rotary’s newest Area of Focus: the environment.
From organizing community cleanups and tree planting projects to hosting environmental webinars and encouraging members to measure their ecological footprints, our club has taken meaningful steps to promote sustainability locally and globally.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to Danielle Lemieux, who has led our Environmental Sub-Committee with dedication and vision. Her leadership has been instrumental in helping our club reach this milestone.
What does the Bronze Award mean?
The Bronze level is the first milestone in the EnviroClub Awards program. It recognizes clubs that:
- Appoint an Environmental Chair or committee,
- Launch or continue at least one environmental initiative,
- Hold meetings focused on environmental topics,
- And begin to engage members in measuring their impact (e.g., through footprint calculators).
This award demonstrates that our club is not only talking about the environment—we’re taking real action.
What’s next?
We’re already looking ahead to the Silver EnviroClub Award. To get there, we’ll continue and improve existing initiatives, launch new projects, engage with other Rotary clubs and community partners, and communicate our efforts more broadly.
As Rotarians, we are people of action. We’re proud to be doing our part, and this Bronze award is just the beginning.
Stay tuned—there’s more green to come!
