Rotary Halifax Harbour held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 6, 2024, under the leadership of immediate past president Godfred Chongatera. The AGM provided members with an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments and challenges of the 2023/2024 Rotary year (July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024). During the meeting, members officially accepted the annual report and participated in the election of the club's leadership team for the 2025/26 Rotary year.
 

The AGM highlighted the collaborative spirit and commitment of Rotary Halifax Harbour members to strengthening the club’s impact on the community and beyond.

Election Results:

  • Immediate Past President: Dave Kowlessar (by default, transitioning from current president)
  • President: Mike Gibson (by default, current president-elect)
  • President-Elect: Valerie Bobyk (elected by acclamation)
  • Secretary: Peter Skakum (elected by acclamation)
  • Treasurer: Vacant
  • Directors at Large:
    • Jackie Nguyen (elected by acclamation for a two-year term)
    • Alex Handyside (elected by acclamation for a two-year term)
    • Lauren McLennan (elected by acclamation for a two-year term)
    • Veronica Dossah (elected by acclamation for a two-year term)

Continuing Board Members:

The following directors at large are in the second year of their current two-year terms, ending June 30, 2026:

  • Yemi Olaniyi
  • Denise Daley
  • Alex Russell

The AGM also underscored the importance of filling the vacant position of treasurer and encouraged members to consider stepping forward to serve in this critical role.

The newly elected and continuing board members bring a wealth of experience, passion, and leadership to guide the club as it prepares for another year of impactful service. Congratulations to all those elected, and heartfelt thanks to outgoing leaders for their dedication and hard work.
