Another fun day at Rotary for the first week of September.  Good food, good fellowship and laughter were all plentiful!

After the usual musical start to the meeting, and the filling of plates at the yummy buffet, we heard some great happy moments such as that  Bonnie did not have to get up early for the first day that teachers go back to school.  Ian did not get a deserved speeding ticket.  Clarke was having fun on his motorcycle and did not get to the RAH...

Clarke was having fun on his motorcycle and did not get to the RAH.

Hilary updated us on our incoming student – she is still not here and is waiting for visa issues to be solved.

Vivienne updated us on the budget – we voted (moved by Vivienne and seconded by Clarke) that our dues be raised to $200/year.

Peter updated us on the Vocational Impersonations – the next team will be Lanc and Hilary on Sept 16.

We discussed the order for Rose Day – most people believe their sales will be similar to last year so we will order 550 dozen plus 200 for the Sackville Club for a total of 750.  We are pleased to have use of the same warehouse space on Barrington Street that we used last year.  Everyone should be actively selling now – the prep night is Wednesday, Sept. 28th and Delivery Day is Thursday, Sept. 29th.

Clarke advised that the Car Rally will be Saturday, Sept 24th – it will likely start in Windsor and end at the Luckett Winery.  Excellent plan!

Louisa reminded everyone about the Women’s Membership Event on Sunday, Sept 25th from 3-5 p.m. at Ready to Rumba.  Every member is encouraged to invite at least one person.

We were then treated to an interesting presentation by Harm ..... from.... who gave us some excellent points on branding.  Our brand is so much more than a logo – it is more like an avatar that has to clearly represent us.  Collaboration, simplicity and innovation are important in developing a distinctive brand.  We should think about those things in relation to our Club!

Sadly, Clarke was unsuccessful in his effort to win the 50-50 jackpot.pot.
