At our Friday morning breakfast meeting, we watched a pre-recorded meeting between Oksana Tjupa, President, Rotary Club of Kyiv Int'l and our district governor Harvey Bass. Our President, Jillian Gibson, shared some details on the district disaster response grant. In the early stages, only clubs in Ukraine and clubs that border Ukraine were eligible to apply for the immediate disaster response fund. The grant is now open globally. Our district has an opportunity to apply for a USD 25,000 grant that can be used locally to help displaced Ukrainians in our area. This grant is for the district, not a specific club. We also have the option to send the entire grant to a Rotary club in Ukraine. After a review of needs, the district has decided the best use for the funds would be to send the money to Ukraine. However, we can re-apply for the grant if there is an urgent need in our district. For added simplicity, our district is looking to combine with other districts to send a single large grant. Jillian will keep the club updated.
