In alignment with RI President Gordon McInally’s goal to put some focus on Mental Health this year, Louisa Horne thought it would be good to start with learning a bit more.  Louisa is gauging interest in having the St. John’s Ambulance Mental Health First Aid course delivered for Rotary in the Halifax area.
  • $210 per person or $168 for students
  • in-class
  • two days, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm both days
  • one-hour lunch and two fifteen-minute breaks
  • participants must be 18 years of age to attend
This course focuses on the four most common mental health disorders, including substance-related, mood-related, anxiety and trauma-related, and psychotic disorders. Participants who take this course are well prepared to interact confidently about mental health with their family, friends, communities, and workplaces. After completing the course, participants will have:
  • Increased awareness of signs and symptoms of the most common mental health problems
  • Decreased stigma related to mental health
  • Increased confidence interacting with individuals experiencing a mental health problem or crisis
  • Increased help provided to individuals in crisis or experiencing a mental health problem
Depending on interest, Louisa is thinking about organizing this for late fall, on two Saturdays or Sundays.  It would be BYO lunch and snacks,
Please let Louisa know if you are interested by email,
Also, if you are interested, might your workplace have a suitable board room or training room to hold such an event?
