This Rotary year, let’s imagine the possibilities in the change we can make to transform our communities. This is a special year… Our first female President of Rotary International – Jennifer Jones. Her theme for the year is Imagine Rotary and she urges us to dream big and harness our connections and the power of Rotary to turn those dreams into reality: “Imagine a world that deserves our best, where we get up each day knowing that we can make a difference.”
This year, we are imagining a different way to talk about and organize our club’s impact by creating “Action Teams”. Will it work? I don’t know. But what I do know is that we are called to be adaptive, to be creative and to try something new. Rotary is a great place to do this. To develop new ideas, to use new skills and to work together towards common goals.
Also, new this year, is our becoming a Rotary Peacebuilder Club. We will be the only Peacebuilder Club east of Toronto and the 10th in Canada. As a Peacebuilder Club, we will be a part of a global network of peacebuilders with a common goal to engage, educate and empower communities.
I am honoured to serve this club as President and to have a stellar team of leaders serving on the board. Building on the strengths of our combined clubs and the engagement of our community partners, I’m confident that we will live up to the challenge of not only imagining the impact of Rotary but being the people of action to make a real change.
