"Since 2006, Luke MacDonald has been a partner/owner of Aerobics First, one of the oldest running and alpine ski institutions in Canada. Luke fostered a passion for the footwear needs of the homeless. He founded the #fititforward in consultation with Shelter Nova Scotia and Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, NS. This program provides approximately 2,000 new and gently used shoes to those with other financial priorities. In 2017, Luke and Ken Snook founded the #snookiesocks program as an extension of the model, raising money to buy wool socks to go with the shoes. This averages approximately 1,000 pairs per winter. In 2010, Luke founded the #SparksFly program while working with John Carson of Run for Life, to promote self-regulation in classrooms. They started by deploying thirteen silent exercise bikes into two local schools in Halifax and Dartmouth. This program has "sparked" across the country, and there are now more than 7,000 bikes in classrooms across Canada and the world, helping kids become calm, alert and ready to learn."
