Special Guest Speakers Cathy Carmody and Dr. Norman Greenberg shared their recent achievement in the search for funding for the Community Carrot Co-op.

Seen below with Rotarian Peter Skakum, our Guests spoke to us about their mission "to create a successful community-owned and community-oriented grocery market business, offering affordable, healthy and environmentally responsible food" in the Gottingen Street area of Halifax. Recently they received funding in the amount of $115,000 from the Aviva Community Fund in order to bring this dream one step closer to reality. This was primarily done online through Social Media, proof positive that we all do indeed have a strong voice in this community and around the world. Their goal is to have the market open in the spring of this year. Congratulations Community CarroImaget Co-op!

Both Dr Greenburg and Ms Carmody serve on the Maritime Harvest Food Market Cooperative and are working steadfastly on providing local, affordable and healthy food to an area of our city that is in need of this essential service.

Thanks for sharing this remarkable achievement with us at Halifax Harbourside. We look forward to your continued success as you further develop this initiative.
