Today was a day of planning in Rotary, only a week away until the brunch!

We started off the meeting getting signed up for jobs on May 8th.  As usual, at this time of year, lots of people stepped up.

Cathy Waite was our speaker today.  She is employed by Independent Living.  She is a registered social worker and she comes from a Rotary family in PEI!

Cathy’s job is to help support people who are living with disabilities.  She runs a program called ACEE  Access to Community Education and Employment  Her program helps young adults after High School learn skills that they need to be excited about moving into the community.  She thinks it’s pretty cool when you can say your job is to inspire youth.

The location for the program is the community college in Dartmouth.  She feels that this location gives them an environment that helps them feel confident in themselves.  Cathy helps the young people to learn about eating right, budgeting, and understanding what you need to do when you have a job.

After her speech the club had a great discussion about our own experiences working with people with disabilities.  Everyone who spoke mentioned how they have had amazing experiences with people with disabilities.

The 50/50 did not go. Somebody is going to win big!
