We provide 50 sandwiches each week to the school for the staff to distribute to students who need lunch. The sandwiches the students like are made of chicken salad or turkey/chicken deli meat. Each sandwich is cut in two, giving 100 portions to be distributed over the lunch hour on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The sandwiches can be dropped off at the school at 2557 Maynard St on Tuesday mornings between 830 and 11 am. Each time slot a volunteer signs up for is a commitment to make ten sandwiches.
In addition to making sandwiches, we also need volunteers to shop for and deliver snacks to the school on Tuesday mornings between 8:30 and 11 am. We usually purchase yogurt tubes, cheese strings, pepperoni sticks and crackers. The weekly budget is $100.00.
Quantities may vary depending on the price and availability of items where volunteers are shopping.
For both the sandwiches and the snacks, volunteers pay for the food themselves and submit their receipts to the club for reimbursement.
