The program is 2 hours every week after school and goes from Oct to May. The program begins with a run / walk exercise and moves on to discussing a word and then reading for the remainder of the 2 hours.

The children are from under privileged homes and the goal is to run 5 km in the Blue Nose Marathon.

Toward the end of the program they are given a pair of running shoes and at the beginning a back pack. The program cost about 35000 to get up and running but the annual costs are 12000 for the year.
The goal is to have each of the three schools self sustaining (finding companies to come up with the 12000 per year so that Kidsfest can be put into other schools).

Dartmouth Rotary Club came and spoke of attending the coaching evenings and how gratifying it is to meet the kids and get to know them. It was said that participating was the best part of their day. They also provide some sponsor money.

Luke owns Aerobics first and Ian McGillivary told us what a mentor he had been to Logan and at the beginning of Logan's program overseas he had asked Luke for shoes. Luke contacted New Balance and had them send 100 pairs of shoes to West Africa.
Luke has himself been the recipient of trust and is keen to pay back. He has offered a pair of shoes for the Mothers day Brunch.
A remarkable person with a remarkable project that is available for our club to become involved in if we choose, with money or time or both.

The 50/50 didn't go, only 15 cards left!
