Last week Chris Hornberger presented a cheque for $4,300 from the club to the Aninga Project to help ten students in Uganda. The club as been supporting the Aninga Project for several years.

Chris also provided a great update on Enoch Magala.

Enoch has been a partner of the Aninga Project in Uganda for the last decade and has been so appreciative of the support that the Rotary Club of Halifax Harbour has provided The Aninga Project because of the things that it has enabled him to do for our students. Inspired by what the Aninga Project has been able to accomplish with Rotary funding from Halifax in Uganda, Enoch actually became a Rotarian in Kampala late this summer. Since then, he has been instrumental in launching a new Basic Education & Literacy Enhancement Program in Kampala which is now a signature program for Rotary in Uganda. He is working on this project both as a Rotarian and as the Secretary General of the Board of Ugandan Community Libraries. They are working at an ambitious pace to link every library in Uganda to a Rotary Club so that libraries can get the support they need to provide services, safety and basic education to the children in their communities.

Enoch was even invited to be a guest when Jennifer Jones came to Uganda on September 3rd.

We don't understand how Enoch finds time to sleep between his commitments as leader of the Centre for Youth Driven Development Initiatives (CFYDDI) (cfyddi.org), his leadership of a community hospital and library in Jinja, his role as Secretary General of Ugandan Community Libraries and now as a Rotarian. He definitely inspires us every day to find more time in our day to make positive changes for others.
