Hello!

The Rotary Club of Halifax Harbour is looking for volunteers to join us at the Magnetic World Music Festival, September 25–26, at the Garrison Grounds in Halifax, and we’d love to have you with us!

For the third year, our Rotary club is partnering with Magnetic World to provide volunteers to help welcome thousands of festivalgoers—and, in return, this partnership helps us raise funds for projects here in Halifax and around the world.

What will volunteers be doing?

We’ll be working alongside Rotarians, friends and other volunteers to greet and wristband attendees as they head into the festival.

It’s a pretty straightforward job: bring a friendly attitude, welcome people as they arrive, wristband them, and send them off to enjoy the show! We’ll be working alongside festival security and staff, who will handle the rest.

You do not need to be a Rotary member to volunteer. In fact, we’d love for you to bring a friend!

Where does the money go?

Your time at Magnetic World helps our Rotary club support a wide range of community and international projects. In the past year alone, that has included:

• Providing school supplies and year-round snacks for students at Joseph Howe Elementary
• Preparing holiday care packages for 100 families across HRM
• Supporting accessible sailing through Sail Able Nova Scotia
• Creating opportunities for young people through Rotary Youth Exchange and Adventures in Citizenship
• Supporting hands-on science and environmental learning for Maritime youth through the Terranaut Club
• Helping young women in East Africa access education and opportunities through the Aninga Project
• Supporting community gardens and environmental projects here at home
• Funding international water and sanitation projects
• Contributing to Rotary's worldwide effort to eradicate polio

In other words, a few hours of your time at a music festival can have an impact that lasts well beyond the weekend.

Ready to join us?

We have volunteer shifts available on September 25 and 26 at the Garrison Grounds. Shifts are long, but there will be opportunities for breaks, stretching and, given that it is a music festival, perhaps a little dancing too!

Best of all, when your shift is finished, there’s no cleanup—you can simply head home.
