Rotary Community Economic and Development Month is observed in October by Rotary International. This month focuses on one of Rotary's key areas of service: promoting economic and community development. Rotary clubs around the world engage in various activities and projects aimed at building sustainable and prosperous communities.

Key aspects and initiatives of Community Economic and Development Month include:
  1. Job Creation and Entrepreneurship: Initiatives to foster local economic development through entrepreneurship, small business support, and vocational training programs.
  2. Microfinance Projects: Providing access to financial services for underserved populations, including microloans, savings programs, and financial literacy education.
  3. Capacity Building: Empowering communities by building local skills and capabilities, often through educational programs and professional training.
  4. Sustainable Development Projects: Implementing projects that support sustainable economic growth, such as agricultural development, eco-tourism, and green technology.
  5. Community Infrastructure Improvements: Enhancing local infrastructure, such as roads, marketplaces, and sanitation facilities, to facilitate better economic opportunities.
  6. Partnerships for Development: Collaborating with other organizations, governments, and businesses to leverage resources and expertise for large-scale community development.
  7. Local Needs Assessment: Engaging with communities to understand their specific needs and challenges, ensuring that projects are tailored and relevant.
Rotary clubs use this month to highlight and advance their efforts in community economic development. The focus is on creating lasting change that is self-sustaining, respects the culture and environment of the community, and empowers individuals to improve their livelihoods and the economic health of their communities.

We acknowledge that our club is in Mi'kma'ki, the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people.
We recognize the peace and friendship treaties signed between the British Crown and the Mi'kmaq.
We are all treaty people and we have rights and responsibilities as Mi'kmaq and settlers alike.
